A strong earthquake with an initial magnitude of 6.9 has struck southwestern Japan, the countrys Meteorological Agency stated Monday.Tsunami warnings were provided for Miyazaki Prefecture, where the temblor was focused, in the southwestern island of Kyushu, in addition to nearby Kochi Prefecture, shortly after the quake struck at 9:19 p.m.
